Olly Murs has announced he is set to perform a massive outdoor concert in Exeter this summer, playing at Powderham Castle on Sunday, 7 July.
Since becoming runner-up in 2009’s series of The X-Factor, singer-songwriter Olly Murs’ double-platinum-selling debut album, reached #2 in the UK Album Chart upon release in 2010, and secured two Top Five places in the UK Singles Chart.
Subsequent hits have come one after another, including the #1 singles Heart Skips a Beat and Dance with me Tonight from Olly’s second album, In Case You Didn’t Know, which hit the #1 spot in the UK Album Chart and marked a progression of his distinctive sound towards a modern example of old-school, Classic Soul and rock ‘n’ roll. The album was certified ‘platinum’ the following month.
Olly’s third and most recent album, Right Place Right Time – released in November last year – became the fastest selling male solo album of 2012 in the UK and went straight to #1 in the UK Album Chart, with the lead single Troublemaker – featuring Flo Rida – reaching the #1 spot in the UK Singles Chart, meaning Olly held the top spot in both charts at the same time.
Army of Two, his eagerly awaited second single from the latest album, will be out on 10 March.
Commenting on the announcement, concert spokesperson Dion Clements said “We’re ecstatic to announce Olly Murs is coming to Exeter’s Powderham Castle to perform his big outdoor summer show. Olly has a big fan base in the area so we just hope there will be enough tickets to meet demand!”.
Additional guest performers will be announced in due course.
