The nominations for the first BRITs social vote for British Video Award were gradually revealed yesterday on the BRITs YouTube pagewww.youtube.com/BRITs. The shortlist of 5 nominations is based on official YouTube views.
The nominations for this year’s British Video Award are:
Calvin Harris Ft Ellie Goulding – I Need Your Love (Columbia, Sony)
Ellie Goulding – Burn (Polydor, Universal)
John Newman – Love Me Again (Island, Universal)
Naughty Boy Ft Sam Smith – La La La (Virgin, Universal)
One Direction – Best Song Ever (Syco Music, Sony)
The Social Vote Award is a first for any major award ceremony and emphasises the BRIT’s desire to constantly seek new initiatives to reach as wide an audience as possible in exciting and innovative ways.
The vote will also be open to a global audience as fans outside of the UK will be able to watch all the BRITs action live on YouTube including special performances by Arctic Monkeys, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Bastille, Rudimental, Ellie Goulding, Lorde,Disclosure and Pharrell Williams.
This exciting initiative is the first time ever an Award show of this scale has been globally broadcast by YouTube. It will also enable and encourage a global audience to get involved with the Social Vote Award for British Video, meaning the achievements and successes in British music over the last year can be celebrated around the world.
The vote itself will open when The BRIT Awards show goes live at 8pm on February 19th. It is a live vote exclusively on Twitter and unique hashtags for each video will be announced. Only one vote per account will be counted.
The BRIT Awards 2014 will be held at The O2 in London on Wednesday 19th February and will be broadcast live on ITV.
