Some of you may not have heard of Anthony Lee from Brisbane, Australia, but a huge amount of you have, especially Directioners. Known as One Direction Dad, he has taken advantage of his huge social media status and turned it into a charitable business opportunity.
Anthony first came into the public eye when daughter, Catie Rose, a massive fan of One Direction managed to see all five band-members after a photo shoot.
Lee was so happy for his daughter that he burst into tears, his emotional moment captured on video. This was later seen by the 1D boys and they all followed him on Twitter. Only a Directioner would understand how amazing a 5/5 follow is.
Building on this, Anthony has developed an idea based around the well known ‘Baby on Board’ signs. Fans On Board is a concept inspired by Louis Tomlinson says Anthony: “His becoming a patron of the Eden Dora Trust in the UK prompted me to try to get the Directioner fandom involved to help Louis raise funds for his chosen charity.”
The first sign ‘Directioner On Board’ was born, and Anthony has pledged $1:00 Australian Dollar from every “Directioner” sign sold to Eden Dora Trust.
Not wanting to stop there, he also came up with a ‘Swiftie On Board’ sign and a ‘KatyCat On Board’ sign. $1:00 Australian Dollar from sales from each of these will benefit Australian children’s charities Starlight Children’s Foundation and also Make-A-Wish Australia.
Wonder what fandom we’ll see next on board?
