Bailey McConnell has announced the release of his new single Crystalise, out on 11 September 2015.

Crystalise, written by Bailey, sees the 16 year old open up for very first time about his battle with depression and a period of self-harm through powerful truthful lyrics. Recognising the same battle in so many teens around the UK, the Britain’s Got Talent star has opted to speak out in the hope that his words will encourage young people with the same problems to seek help. As a cause close to his heart, Bailey has also taken on the role of ambassador for YoungMinds, the UK’s leading charity committed to improving the emotional wellbeing and mental health of children and young people.

The stunning single, showcasing Bailey’s mature vocals and sweeping orchestration, offers an emotional and honest insight into Bailey’s struggles with lack of self-esteem, struggles to fit in and the measures he took. The lyrics, penned entirely by Bailey explore his journey through suffering at his lowest point to learning to overcome his demons. He sings, “You have a beautiful story, that’s not the way you should be writing it down,” lyrics which he hopes will resonate with others in the same position.

Bailey McConnell commented, “I wrote this song when I was going through a really hard time and I thought the only way out for me was to not be here anymore. But luckily I managed to work through it and had the people I love around me that helped me. This song has the most meaning to me as it really does describe one of my most troubled times. It always makes me emotional when I sing it and I hope other people going through the same thing can relate and know that it doesn’t have to be that way!”

Lucie Russell, Director of Campaigns at YoungMinds said, “Bailey McConnell’s moving song Crystalise captures the dark times many young people go through but also provides an inspirational message of hope. It’s incredibly brave of Bailey to have written this song, which is genuine, emotional and uplifting. Through his words Bailey is using his experience to guide and support young people and to tell them they are not alone. We are proud that Bailey is a YoungMinds Ambassador, and support his powerful message that every young person has a ‘beautiful story’ and is special. “

The debut release follows his nine-date ‘Crystalise’ tour around the UK. The tour will visit cities including Glasgow, Birmingham, London and Manchester, where Bailey is set to unveil a whole host of new material destined for his debut album.

McConnell, from Milton Keynes, made it through to the Semi-Final leg of BGT in 2014. He is now continuing that dream, and with an ever-growing fan base, he’s tipped for big things in 2015, and a debut album release in 2016.
