Queen Bey! Beyoncé leads the shortlist for the VO5 NME Awards 2017, with five nominations  including best album, hero of the year, music moment of the year, best international female and best video for Formation.

The 1975, Skepta, Bastille and Christine and the Queens amass four nominations each, going head-to-head in key categories such as best british band, best album, best track and many more.

Political upheaval in 2016 dominates Villain of the Year category, with Donald Trump, David Cameron, Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage all nominated, alongside Martin Shkreli and Katie Hopkins.

Reigning ‘Worst Band’ champions, 5 Seconds of Summer, look set to make it a hat-trick, as they are shortlisted again for the less than coveted title

The awards, shortlisted and decided by NME readers, sees fans vote in their thousands to crown heroes across music, festivals, film, tv, books and more. The shortlist will be officially revealed this evening at an exclusive NME nominations party ft Biffy Clyro at London’s Omeara.
