Taking her tongue-and-cheek humour and anecdotal lyrics on the road, Lauran Hibberd announces her ‘Bring Your Own Girlfriend’ UK dates which will see the rising indie pop star bringing her live performance to Manchester, Glasgow, North Shields, Leicester, Leeds, Southampton, Bristol, Oxford and London. Fresh off-the-back of her UK, US and Australian tour 2023 support runs alongside cult US alt-rockers All Time Low, Lauran Hibberd has recently announced her return to the states for her North American leg of the tour. 2024 will also see Hibberd joining impressive lineups throughout the Summer as she shares the stage with James Arthur in Riverside Stadium, Middlesbrough on June 08.
The release of the indie songwriters second album ‘Girlfriend Material’ has been received with critical acclaim from key press and tastemaker titans such as UNCUT, NME, Rolling Stone UK, DIY, Dork, NYLON, Clash, Time Out, Kerrang, Rock Sound to name a few. Hibberd has also been making her mark on broadsheets The Guardian, The Times, The Independent, Evening Standard; and establishing herself as a frequent resident on the BBC Radio 1 (Clara Amfo, Jack Saunders, Gemma Bradley, Sian Eleri, Nels Hylton) airwaves.
Released on March 22, Hibberd speaks on her latest album: “Welcome to Girlfriend Material, here you will find the 12-stage instruction manual on how to make the perfect girlfriend in under an hour. Listen more than once to ensure perfection,” Hibberd reveals. “Making this record came oddly naturally, it felt like it was supposed to come out of me and I’ve never felt so attached to a body of songs like this. I think I’m at a point in my life where I’ve started to really experience ‘life’, with going through losing a parent, having a life altering break up, living on my own for the first time, and exploring who the ‘f*vk’ I actually am. Everything I am right now is in this album. It’s the best thing I’ve ever made, and I’ve worked with some incredible people in the process.
