Sophie Stern says, ‘Power and money is a constant struggle in our lives and in the world as a whole. It’s a complex relationship. It is something we all want, despite knowing it is not what make us truly happy. Writing this record I was thinking about how we want to run from it and towards it at the same time- it’s an eternal struggle. The song is basically f&*% “the Man” but he still kinda got me hooked.’
The track is produced by musician/songwriter/producer David Elevator. His past work is with eclectic pop icons such as Beck and songwriting trailblazer Linda Perry are just a hint of the musical pedigrees at work here.
Sophie’s identity prior to this evocative new pop incarnation was as sought-after songwriter, earning her bread writing hits for A-listers like Britney Spears, Conor Maynard, among others. She was signed by the Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter/musician Dr. Luke, joining his coveted stable of writers, and going on to pen songs for multiple noteworthy artists including Britney Spears, Ke$ha, and more.
