BBC Radio 1’s Nick Grimshaw today announced that Florence and The Machine will make their first UK festival appearance of 2015 to perform at Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Norwich.
The announcement took place live on The Radio 1 Breakfast Show this morning, where Florence was a guest talking to Nick about her forthcoming single ‘What Kind of Man’ which was aired exclusively on Radio 1 last night as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record.
It was announced in January that Radio 1’s Big Weekend will be held in Norwich on 23rd and 24th May and that Taylor Swift was the first confirmed act. Florence and The Machine are on the line-up for Saturday 23rd May and Taylor Swift will perform on Sunday 24th May.
Hosted by Radio 1 DJs, Radio 1’s Big Weekend is the UK’s biggest free ticketed festival and has an unrivalled reputation for attracting live performances from some of the biggest UK and international acts, bringing the nation together for a shared live music moment. Thousands of lucky music fans will be able to enjoy the 2015 event that will be held at Earlham Park – with the majority of the free tickets going to the residents of Norwich and the surrounding area.

In the lead up to Big Weekend, for the fourth year running, Radio 1 and BBC Learning will also embark on a special week of local engagement and face-to-face activity in the area – opening the doors to Radio 1’s Academy. During the week, Radio 1 hopes to inspire local 16-19 year olds to take the next step in their careers by inviting them to attend a series of radio shows, masterclasses and Q&As.
