After an 18 month absence from the music industry, Markus Feehily steps back into the limelight to launch his solo career with his stunning new single ‘Love Is A Drug’.
An epic, soulful song that’s sure to confound listeners’ expectations, ‘Love Is A Drug’ is a deeply personal, heartfelt lament that sees Markus coming of age as a songwriter and artist. Featuring swelling strings, deliciously dark beats and a soulful gospel edge, the song is a perfect statement of intent from Markus ahead of his anticipated debut solo album, scheduled for release later in 2015.
‘Love Is A Drug’ was co-written by Markus and produced by acclaimed production duo Mojam (Sam Smith, Emeli Sandé). The video for the track is currently in production, and the entire campaign creative and artwork is directed by renowned fashion designer, stylist and photographer William Baker (creative director for Kylie Minogue, and also known for his work with Bjork and Tricky).
Having already sold over 50 million records worldwide as part of Westlife, Feehily returns with a wealth of life experiences from which to draw inspiration for his soulful pop. With offers from major record labels on the table, Markus decided to pursue a deal through KLS, a route which allowed him complete control over the creative process, making a record that represents him perfectly as an artist. In Markus’ own words –
“I’ve always had another side to me that no-one’s heard or seen before. I’m so thankful for my past and the incredible experiences it gave me but now, looking to the future, I’m excited by the prospect of creating and sharing music that comes from within. Songs that I’ve written about experiences that I’ve had – soulful, autobiographical pop music”
Markus Feehily releases his debut solo album later this year through Harmoney Entertainment via Kobalt Label Services.
