The winner of The Voice UK this year will release their debut single after the live final on 4th April. This is the first time the winner’s single will be available to buy from midnight following the live final.
The chosen track is ‘Lost Stars’, originally performed by American singer, actor and The Voice US coach, Adam Levine (from Maroon 5), and written by Gregg Alexander, Danielle Brisebois, Nick Lashley and Nick Southwood. ‘Lost Stars’ appears in 2014’s ‘Begin Again’, a film about the music-business starring Keira Knightley and Mark Ruffalo, along with Adam Levine. The track was recently nominated for Best Original Song at the 2015 OSCARs where it was performed by Adam Levine to an American audience of over 36 million people.

Four different versions of the track will be recorded in the lead up to the final, by all four finalists. Each version will be specially arranged to suit their individual voices and styles, allowing them to stamp their personality onto the song, making it their own. But only one of these four recordings will ever be heard by the public, when it is released the night the winner is announced.

The single will be available to download from midnight (on Saturday 4th April) through Universal Music. The winner also signs an exclusive recording contract with Universal Music.

Executive producer Moira Ross says: “Having a track released on the night of the final adds even more excitement to the live show. I’m sure viewers will love the track – all four of our finalists are incredible singers and have made their own mark on it with four very different interpretations.”

Proceeds from the single will go towards the BBC’s Performing Arts Fund, a BBC charity created to support and encourage the performing arts sector across the UK.

The Voice UK live final takes place on Saturday April 4th on BBC One.
