Show is 14+, under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
‘Call Me Out’, is a hypnotic, widescreen pop anthem infused with a soaring energy. Her irresistible hooks and choruses give a nod to the left-field pop sensibilities of acts including Empress Of and Robyn as well as the lyricism of Carole King and Joni Mitchell.
The 21-year-old confidently vocalises the importance of not being constrained by expectations of how you should behave, embracing stories about the thorny side of life and love. “I wanted to write a really fun song about the process of flirting with someone and that uncertainty of not knowing what will happen,” Sarah explains. “There’s no certainty in anything and that’s a really fun and terrifying time.”.
That playful, personal touch is also prevalent in the video, directed by Sarah’s close friends Rubberduck and Rubberneck, that follows her through a manor house like a game of tag with the camera, whilst being swept up in the song’s stacked harmonies and twinkling keys.
In a world in which the persona of a musician is planned and micromanaged to the tightest degree, Sarah Close feels refreshing, real and immediately relatable.
