Jess Glynne has released her anthemic new single ‘Friend of Mine’ via EMI. Propelled by her signature soaring vocals over a drum ‘n’ bass-inspired production; this is a ‘Classic Jess’ record that stands tall alongside her biggest dance hits like ‘My Love’ and ‘Hold My Hand’.
Co-written by Jess Glynne with Jin Jin, pioneering British DJ Sub Focus (who also produced the track), and Ollie Green; ‘Friend of Mine’ is a song about honesty, hope and forgiveness. “Darling, even after all this time, will you still be a friend of mine? We said some things and we crossed the line, but will you still be a friend of mine?”
Jess said: “This song is about honesty and forgiveness. All friendships and relationships have their ups and downs, life isn’t perfect. Hopefully people can hear their own stories in the lyrics and it brings them hope. I wrote ‘Friend of Mine’ with one of my closest friends and collaborators, Jin Jin. We have worked together so much over the years but this was a real moment for us. It was my first time working with Sub Focus and Ollie Green, and it felt really special walking into a room with such open, safe souls.”
‘Friend of Mine’ follows the summer banger ‘What Do You Do?’, which was accompanied by an MK Remix and acoustic version. The singles – including ‘Silly Me’ – mark a new and more personal chapter for the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, who has delivered some of the most memorable dance-pop hits of the past decade.
After taking a few years out of the spotlight to focus on her personal growth; Jess is back stronger, with new songs to build on her incredible career with over 4 billion global career streams, 7 UK No.1 singles (the most by any solo British female artist in history), two UK platinum albums, 11 platinum singles and nine BRIT Award nominations.
