The anticipation surrounding the sold-out debut of New Noise at Voodoo Daddy’s in 2024 was truly electric, and the event certainly lived up to its hype. New Noise successfully showcased the most promising up-and-coming musical talents from Norfolk.
Access Creative College teaming up with Norfolk Music Hub, Play Produce Promote and Pica pica, Pica pica!, New Noise transformed the newly minted Voodoo Daddy’s venue on London Street into a hub of musical discovery. The concept behind New Noise was simple: to provide a platform for young musicians aged 14-25 to share their music with a wider audience.
The evening began with the dynamic performance of JenJen, igniting the stage with an emotionally charged performance, with just a guitar, providing a soulful and emotive backdrop to JenJen’s powerful messages. Following this captivating opening act, Samarchy took to the spotlight, continuing the momentum with his harmonious blend of music and poetic verses, demonstrating the musician’s versatility. As the night progressed, the audience was treated to the mesmerising sounds of Arthur Black, whose unique style of moody soundscapes and haunting, emotive vocals captivated the crowd.
Finally, the evening reached its peak with the highly anticipated headliner, $ebbuku, whose established presence and commanding performance brought the event to a memorable close. Their energy was infectious, and the audience was immediately drawn in by the adrenaline-filled rush that accompanied each beat drop and lyric delivery. $ebbuku’s ability to control the energy of the room was impressive. Each artist contributed to the vibrant atmosphere of the night, creating an unforgettable experience for all in attendance.
What truly set New Noise apart was its inclusivity. Welcoming individuals aged 14 and above, the event fostered a vibrant atmosphere where music aficionados of all ages could come together to celebrate local talent. With tickets priced affordably at £5, New Noise ensured that everyone had the opportunity to experience its magic.
The overwhelming success of New Noise was perhaps best exemplified by its rapid sell-out status, a testament to the excitement and anticipation surrounding this initiative. With its unwavering commitment to nurturing originality, diversity, and opportunity in the local music scene, New Noise has firmly cemented its place as a beacon of creativity in Norwich’s musical landscape.
