An array of A-listers joined footballer Rio Ferdinand Thursday Night (01-August) to celebrate the launch of his new book, Rio: My Decade as a Red, chartering the star’s rise and rise at the world’s most famous football club.
Footballing legends Ian Wright, John Barnes, Sol Campbell and Anton Ferdinand joined celebrity friends including Vernon Kay, James Nesbitt and Rachel Riley at the exclusive Hospital Club in Covent Garden.
Rio said: “I’ve had ten amazing years at Manchester United and this book has given me a chance to look back all the highs and lows, and remember all the people I have met along the way. I had a great time recalling so many momentous occasions and I’m sure fans will enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed compiling it.”
Rio: My Decade as a Red is a visual celebration of Rio Ferdinand’s phenomenal football career, presenting his own comments and perspective on the key moments of his life both on and off the pitch. Published by Bonnier Books and on the shelves on August 9th, it includes more 200 images with a season-by-season account of the player’s time at Manchester United, special interactive content, interviews with celebrities and reflections on Rio’s career from team mates.
The book release coincides with Rio’s testimonial match at Old Trafford, also on August 9th.
