15 year old Britain’s Got Talent finalist Gabz is aiming to be the first ever female solo artist to have an England World Cup Song chart hit, laying down the gauntlet to Gary Barlow and Gary Lineker’s official World Cup song ‘Greatest Day’ with her original World Cup song ‘Holiday in Brazil’.
The fresh, upbeat charity single hopes to provide England fans with a catchy anthem to take to Brazil this summer and at the same time raise money for Make-A-Wish Foundation® UK.
Make-a-Wish grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life- threatening conditions. “We are extremely grateful to Gabz for choosing to support Make-A-Wish,” said Amanda Williams, Director of Fundraising at Make-A-Wish. “Proceeds from the song will help us grant more magical wishes to brave and deserving young people. In 2014 we want to grant 1,000 wishes, so her support is invaluable.”
Tapping expertly into national sentiment – perpetual hope of success versus the expectation of failure – ‘Holiday to Brazil’ boasts an indelible chorus that could be taken up anyone, regardless of their hope or cynicism. Even England International footballer Frank Lampard has shown his support for the charity song.
And in the contest between the two songs to mention the word ‘England’ The result is a resounding ‘Holiday in Brazil’ 16 – 0 ‘Greatest Day’.
After stunning Simon Cowell and the Britain’s Got Talent judges last year, singer-songwriter Gabz has gained a huge following who took her debut single ‘Lighters(The One)’ to number 6 in the UK chart last summer. Her fans also got #HolidayinBrazil trending on Twitter all over the UK recently after she launched a competition to appear in the video.
The word is spreading and belief is growing – ‘Holiday in Brazil’ could be the song the nation takes to their hearts. New and original, the lyrics are realistic in their expectations of our national side and even include a cheeky nod to the official song – “You never know in football, could be our Greatest Day, And even if we don’t win we’ll have had a Holiday”.
