American Express presents BST Hyde Park announces its next 2025 headliner, the renowned, x6 GRAMMY-nominated pop powerhouse Sabrina Carpenter will be headlining in Hyde Park on Saturday 5 July. Sabrina will be joined by special guests Clairo and beabadoobee, with the full line-up still to be announced. Tickets go on general sale at 10am GMT on Wednesday 11 December.
Reigning queen of the charts Sabrina Carpenter’s headline BST Hyde Park show comes hot on the heels of the incredible success of her No.1 album Short n’ Sweet, which topped the charts in 19 countries including the Billboard 200 and UK Official Albums Chart. The platinum album boasts a trinity of hits, including the viral summer sensation ‘Espresso’, ‘Please Please Please’ and ‘Taste’, all of which reached No.1 in the UK, spending a combined total of 21 weeks in the top spot. With this remarkable trio, Carpenter became the first artist since the Beatles to chart their first three top five US hits in the same week.
Carpenter’s monumental success in 2024 continued with her debut at Coachella festival, her performances as Taylor Swift’s special guest on the Eras Tour across Latin America, Australia, and Singapore, and her own Short n’ Sweet tour across North America. Her tour has earned glowing reviews, with Consequence of Sound praising her for “making pop music feel larger than life”. Last month in Los Angeles, she even welcomed the iconic Christina Aguilera to the stage for a duet. Sabrina also recently announced her festive special, A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter, landing on Netflix today (6th Dec) in the US and tomorrow (7th Dec) in the UK. The special will feature performances, a host of special duets and guest acts, including comedians and ‘unexpected’ appearances.
Joining Sabrina Carpenter at London’s BST Hyde Park is special guest, American indie luminary Clairo. Named NME’s Best New Act in the World in 2020, Clairo earned her first No.1 on the TikTok Billboard Top 50 in August 2024, with her song ‘Juna’ off of her third studio album, Charm. Pitchfork described the singer’s soft-rock album as “a lush, rich production”, giving it an impressive 7.5 rating. The American singer-songwriter also gained popularity with her cult debut album single ‘Bags’ and TikTok viral hit ‘Flaming Hot Cheetos’, which has amassed over 452 million streams on Spotify.
beabadoobee also joins the line-up for BST Hyde Park. Known for her lush, introspective sound that bridges 90s alt-rock and modern indie pop, the London-based artist has become a defining voice of her generation. Fresh from her headline performance at Alexandra Palace, which Clash described as “a homecoming,” beabadoobee continues to win over fans with her heartfelt songwriting and magnetic stage presence. Her latest album This is How Tomorrow Moves, which shot to No.1 in the UK Albums Chart, has propelled her from indie darling to mainstream sensation, cementing her status with the Alexandra Palace milestone and now a coveted slot at BST Hyde Park.
Sabrina Carpenter joins previously announced headliners for 2025, Olivia Rodrigo (27 June), Zach Bryan (28 + 29 June), Noah Kahan (4 July), Hugh Jackman (6 July), and Jeff Lynne’s ELO (13 July). Expect more incredible announcements soon, for the 2025 edition of the UK’s most anticipated summer event.
BST Hyde Park again brought a hugely diverse range of superstars to the Royal Park in 2024 across three weekends – SZA to Kings of Leon, Morgan Wallen, Andrea Bocelli, Robbie Williams, Shania Twain, Stevie Nicks, Kylie Minogue and Stray Kids.

The MOBO Awards, the UK’s premier celebration of Black music and culture, have announced the nominees across 20 categories for their 2025 edition. For the first time, the iconic ceremony will take place in Newcastle at the Utilita Arena on Tuesday 18 February. Tickets are on sale now.
For nearly three decades, MOBO has celebrated established stars and some of the fastest-rising talent in music and the 2025 edition once again shows that breadth.
The British R&B scene shines brightly this year, with triple MOBO nominees Jorja Smith and Cleo Sol leading the charge. This year, got2b is the official sponsor of the hotly contested Best Female Act category, as well as the MOBO Awards’ Official Hair Styling Partner, and both stars are nominated in the category, and for Album of The Year and Best R&B/Soul Act supported by Kiss FM.
Sampha topped the UK R&B charts with his second album, Lahai, and is nominated by MOBO for Best Male Act and Album of The Year and his music video ‘Only’, directed by Dexter Navy, has been shortlisted for Video of the Year in Association with LNER – MOBO is proud to announce that LNER (London North Eastern Railway) is the Official Travel Partner for the awards.
Also nominated for three awards each are Central Cee, Bashy, Ghetts and Odeal. Central Cee now attracts more than 25 million monthly streams, and 2024 saw the release of singles including ‘BAND4BAND’ featuring Lil Baby, which receives a Song of the Year. A debut studio album, Can’t Rush Greatness, is due in 2025. Having won Best Male Act for the last two years, he is nominated once again, as well as being up for Best Drill Act.
While rooted in music, the MOBO Awards also spotlight cultural contributions. This year, Netflix’s hit series Supacell sees Best Performance In a TV Show/Film nominations for Ghetts for his role as Krazy, as well as for Josh Tedeku, who plays Tazer, and Tosin Cole as Michael. EastEnders picks up nominations in the same category for Angela Wynter as Yolande Trueman and Diane Parish as Denise Fox. These nominations showcase the breadth of diverse talent across TV and film, highlighting the richness of creative storytelling and the depth and diversity of talent shaping today’s TV and film industry.
Having built a successful acting career, including his role as Jermaine Newton in Top Boy, Ashley Thomas, aka Bashy, returned to music with his first studio album in 15 years. The record, Being Poor Is Expensive, is an intimate look back at his childhood and earns him nominations for Best Male Act, Best Hip Hop Act and Album of The Year.
After a stunning year in her career, RAYE is nominated twice and has a chance of a second win in a row in Best Female Act in association with got2b.
At the heart of MOBO’s mission is championing emerging talent. This year, MOBO UnSung alumni Jordan Adetunji, who has had a big year with his track ‘KEHLANI’ clocking up more than 275 million streams after going viral on TikTok, picks up two nominations for Best Newcomer and Song of The Year. MOBO UnSung Top 20 finalist, Native James, is shortlisted for Best Alternative Music Act in association with Marshall, reflecting the UnSung programme’s enduring impact on the industry.
The MOBO Awards celebrate the most exciting artists in the world today in categories including Best Caribbean Music, as well as Best Jazz Act and Best Gospel Act supported by Premier Gospel.
Both Beyoncé and Kendrick Lamar, are among the nominees for Best International Act but the year has been notable for the rise of a number of female African stars, with Ayra Starr, Tems and Tyla all nominated in both Best African Music Act in Association with Loco Music and the Best International Act category.
Marshall, the premier amplifier company, returns for a third year to sponsor Best Alternative Act. Loco Music, a Cape Verdean music company, is once again sponsoring the Best African Music Act category. This year, got2b is the Official Hair Styling Partner and also the sponsor of the hotly contested Best Female Act category.
MOBO Founder Kanya King CBE said: “Each and every time we unveil the MOBO Awards nominations, I am taken aback by the sheer amount of incredible talent we have in the UK. It inspires us all to continue pushing the industry to be more inclusive of a greater variety of Black music and culture. The music coming out of the UK this past year has been some of the best we have had in years. These distinct, uncompromising voices – across different genres from R&B and Soul to Grime, Hip-Hop to Jazz and Alternative – are not just soundtracks for our days. They provide healing and reflection, and also escapism in times of need. For several years now we have also seen the growth of our MOBO UnSung talent programme, as it continues to be a beacon for spotlighting and empowering emerging artists. Some of the artists tipped by UnSung have gone on to achieve great things and we’re so proud to be following their journey, and celebrating their success. A huge congratulations to all our nominees across music, film and television, and entertainment. We look forward to welcoming you in Newcastle!”
Since its inaugural ceremony in 1996 at London’s Grand Connaught Rooms, MOBO Awards has become a calendar staple in the UK and its iconic trophy is now one of the highest accolades in music. The Awards have honoured music stars such as Central Cee, Stormzy, Janet Jackson, Little Simz, Davido, Rihanna, RAYE, Wizkid, Beyoncé and Jay Z, while also helping to elevate the careers of rising stars in the industry.
The impact of the MOBO Group extends far beyond the annual awards show. MOBO is deeply committed to promoting social change and inclusion, supporting the development of young talent, and advocating for diversity across the entertainment industry and beyond. Through mentorship programmes, partnerships with educational and charitable organisations, and career development opportunities with leading organisations, MOBO has been a driving force for positive change.
By championing creativity, providing platforms for new voices, and advocating for equality, the MOBO Awards and the wider MOBO Group continue to inspire and empower talents and communities across the UK and beyond.

Moana isn’t a typical Disney heroine, stating quite clearly in the latest instalment, Moana 2, that she is not a princess. Her friend Maui’s response – “Well, a lot of people think you are” – elicited knowing laughter from the audience when I saw the film. This shows just how much Moana has redefined what it means to be a Disney princess.
Unconcerned with traditional tropes like ballgowns and romance, Moana embodies strength, independence and a deep commitment to environmental stewardship. She powerfully demonstrates how human action can effect real environmental healing and transformation; through collaborating with the forces of nature, the world can be saved from environmental catastrophe.
In Moana 2, her commitment to protecting the Earth again takes centre stage – but this time going even further to deliver a powerful call for collective action, to restore environmental harmony and strengthen human interconnectedness. Answering the call of her ancestors, Moana sets out on a treacherous ocean voyage to ensure the survival of her island against the wishes of Nalo, a powerful storm god who is determined that humans should remain isolated from one another.
Moana 2 – Credit: Walt Disney Pictures
Moana, of course, shares several traits with earlier Disney princesses. Like Belle from Beauty and the Beast and Jasmine from Aladdin, she dreams of a life beyond the confines of her immediate world. Similar to Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Mulan, she sets off on a dangerous adventure far from home. And like all the princesses before her, Moana has animal companions – Pua the pig and Hei-Hei the chicken. But what sets Moana apart is how her connection to nature is portrayed.
Disney has a long legacy of linking its princesses with nature, from Snow White and Cinderella, who recruit small animals to assist with their domestic chores, to Elsa in Frozen who can magically control ice and snow. But Moana’s relationship with the natural world is more than just symbolic interaction. Her bond with nature is an active, collaborative partnership.
This is not a typical Disney princess story of self-discovery, but of active engagement with the world around her. In the first film, Moana embarks on a dangerous oceanic journey to “restore the heart of Te Fiti” – that is, repair the environmental damage caused by the trickster demi-god Maui and restore harmony to the natural world. In doing so, she sets her island and the Disney princess in a new direction.
In the sequel, Moana is more mature, more experienced as a wayfinder, and is a highly respected member of her island community. This new story sees her lead a group of fellow islanders on a voyage to find the lost island of Motufetu and reconnect isolated island communities across the ocean. Through this, she demonstrates the power of collective action. She partners with human and non-human entities in pursuit of these goals, which will lead to better environmental outcomes and greater human connection.
Instead of simply reacting to or passively experiencing nature, as many of her Disney predecessors have, Moana works with forces of nature including the ocean, which is a key character in both films. Unlike typical 3D animation processes, where water is created through automated particle simulations, Disney artists have animated the ocean in Moana as a character, giving it more human-like movement and personality.
This approach allows the ocean to become a true partner in Moana’s journey, guiding her and actively engaging with her in meaningful ways as she restores balance to the environment and connects isolated island communities.
This is a visually stunning sequel that recaptures and builds on the magic of the first film, and should be seen on a large screen. Dazzling artistry fills every frame – in particular, bioluminescent sea life is spectacularly rendered. Polynesian culture is represented in more detail, with traditional rituals, dancing, artwork and singing giving the film a weightier authenticity.
As a musical, the songs are not initially quite as catchy as in the first film, but time will tell if they resonate with audiences. The characters have grown since we last encountered them. Moana flourishes in her role as both a leader and a protector of the Earth. We also see her develop into the role of “big sister” – to her younger sibling Simea and, symbolically, to all who she encounters.
There are heartfelt callbacks to the first film as we see Moana share her knowledge of the ocean and pass on the wisdom she has received from her grandmother, now in spirit, who is portrayed beautifully onscreen in human form and as a manta ray. Moana’s relationship with the egotistical Maui is again a source of comedy, but now contains an emotional depth that comes from a platonic friendship with roots.
Through Moana, we have moved into a new era of the Disney princess. Physically strong and fit, a skilled navigator and blossoming leader, she is a heroine on screen and in the world of the film, where she is depicted on decorative tapa cloths alongside gods and myths. She announces herself as “Moana of the land and of the sea”.
In her seminal work Feminism and The Mastery of Nature, ecofeminist and environmental philosopher Val Plumwood
wrote:
If we are to survive into a liveable future, we must take into our own hands the power to create, restore and explore different stories, with new main characters, better plots, and at least the possibility of some happy endings.
Through stories of human interconnectedness, ecological harmony and respect for the natural world, Disney’s Moana 2 appears to be doing just that.
Ahead of joining the mighty Oasis on their long-awaited reunion stadium tour, Newmarket Racecourses is delighted to welcome Richard Ashcroft on Friday 27th June 2025.
As the enigmatic frontman of rock band The Verve, Ashcroft carved a reputation as one of the most recognisable performers of the ‘90s. The group’s breakthrough album “Urban Hymns” spawned hit singles “Lucky Man,” “The Drugs Don’t Work” and “Bitter Sweet Symphony”, selling over 10 million copies worldwide. The record remains one of the best-selling albums in UK history.
Solo, the two-time Ivor Novello winner has released five Top 5 solo albums, including the #1 debut “Alone With Everybody”. His most recent album, “Acoustic Hymns”, revisits his classics with stripped-back brilliance and reached #2 in the UK Album Chart.
Sophie Able, Newmarket Racecourses and International Director, said
“Following a superb 2024 season, we knew our first announcement for 2025 had to be extra special. We’re so excited to welcome Richard Ashcroft to Newmarket Nights ahead of his massive summer on the road with Oasis.”
The award-winning Newmarket Nights series continues to be the premier entertainment destination for the East. The concerts stage some of the nation’s biggest music talents for a full headline set after racing, with recent headliners including Bastille, Anne-Marie, Olly Murs, Busted and Becky Hill. In addition to world-class live music and an electric evening at the races, the events provide a selection of culinary delights for all, ranging from street food to Newmarket’s array of exceptional restaurants.
Tickets for Richard Ashcroft at Newmarket Racecourses will be on sale at 10am on Friday 6th December via thejockeyclublive.co.uk, with a presale available to customers at 10am on Wednesday 4th December.
Y Not Festival have revealed their headliners for 2025, alongside the first wave of what’s set to be a huge line-up. The eighteenth edition of the North’s prime festival is back on 31 July to 3 August – The Wombats will get the party started on Thursday, before a massive weekend of hits from headliners The Prodigy, Courteeners and Madness. Artists announced today include Primal Scream, The Last Dinner Party, Franz Ferdinand, Sigrid, Shed Seven, hard life, Annie Mac, the Ks, Maximo Park, The Pigeon Detectives, Professor Green, The Hunna, Red Rum Club, Vistas, The Twang and Seb Lowe and many more.
With three decades as one of the most vital electronic acts in live music, there will be no doubt what The Prodigy will bring to Y Not on Friday 1 August. Born in the heart of the early rave scene, the band quickly grew musically into the powerhouse behind international hit singles such as ‘Firestarter’ and ‘Breathe’. The Prodigy are pioneers of their field – having sold millions of records worldwide and winning numerous awards, including two BRIT Awards for Best Dance Act, they are a force to be reckoned with and not one to miss.
Fresh from the release of acclaimed seventh album Pink Cactus Cafe, Courteeners return to Y Not to headline Saturday 2 August. The new record is the sound of the band pushing and stretching their boundaries with an upbeat pop feel, full of hooks and anthems. Since their formation in 2016, the band have attracted the attention of giants of pop from Morrissey to Bono, who declared them the “best band of the last 10 years” following the release of debut album St Jude.
Courteeners
Not many bands can own a festival stage quite like Madness. On Sunday 3 August witness their seemingly endless catalogue of classic tunes, including the likes of ‘Our House’, ‘It Must Be Love’ and ‘Baggy Trousers’. They may have been one of the leading lights of the two-tone ska revival in the ‘70s and ‘80s but their impact on pop music, and on the charts, goes far beyond that. A “proper knees up” is guaranteed!
Madness
The Wombats are heading to Derbyshire to open Y Not 2025 for early-entry on Thursday 31 August, welcoming in a new era with their most sophisticated and sonically adventurous album yet. Out 21 February next year, Oh! The Ocean provides escapism from the mundane with songwriting that has profound meaning to audiences in turbulent times, packaged in the band’s deceptively cuddly and playful façade. Alongside familiar sounds they explore new genres from glistening tech rock to sci-fi pop, futuristic fuzz rock to bluesy rock’n’roll, with touches of disco and hip-hop-inflections – we can’t wait for them to bring it all to the Big Gin stage.
The Wombats
The supporting line-ups across the weekend are set to be incredible. With one of Britain’s best live acts, Scottish alternative rock group Primal Scream, known for their era-defining album Screamadelica, and The Last Dinner Party returning to Y Not after a triumphant Quarry Stage performance in 2023, now armed with their Mercury-nominated hit album, Prelude to Ecstasy. Also, indie rockers Franz Ferdinand, the BRIT-award winning group with huge hits including ‘Take Me Out’ and ‘Do You Want To’.
Plus critically acclaimed pop artist Sigrid, Britpop hitmakers Shed Seven, indie pop fan favourites hard life (formally known as Easy Life), beloved DJ Annie Mac, indie rock breakthrough the ks, 00s rock crowd pleasers Maximo Park and Pigeon Detectives, rapper Professor Green, as well as The Hunna, Red Rum Club, Vistas, The Twang, Seb Lowe, and many more.
Jason Oakley, Managing Director at Y Not Festival, says: “Last year’s Y Not Festival was just incredible in many ways, and I’d like to thank everyone who came along, our amazing supporters and all the performers! And 2025 is looking like it’s going to be even better – we’re beyond excited to share that The Prodigy, Courteeners, and Madness will be headlining, as well as The Wombats who are taking over Thursday night. We’ve got another huge year in store for you all, with the line-up including Primal Scream, The Last Dinner Party, Annie Mac, Sigrid, Maximo Park and so many more… See you there?!”

Charli xcx is coming to London in 2025 and she is curating her own festival, party girl. A massive line-up, personally chosen by the Brat star, will perform in Victoria Park on Saturday 14 June.
Guest stars on the day will include Brat collaborators 070 Shake, A. G. Cook, Bladee, Kelly Lee Owens, The Dare and The Japanese House, with many more still to come. Tickets go on general sale on Friday 29 November.
With party girl, Charli xcx is the second headliner at LIDO to be revealed following the news that Jamie xx will top the bill on Saturday 7 June.
The two-weekend LIDO Festival, named after Victoria Park’s historic Lido Field, will feature curated musical line-ups alongside community-driven activities during the week, with a strong emphasis on sustainability. LIDO will showcase the most current headliners and work closely with them on line ups reflecting their musical influence.
Avant-pop and electronic superstar Charli xcx has become an iconic figure in the arts, having helped expand the landscape of popular music over the last decade by seamlessly traversing the underground and mainstream with her artistic output. Over the course of a trailblazing career, the multi-hyphenate creative has earned critical acclaim for her innovative style and entrepreneurial spirit and seen her forward-thinking approach reshape pop culture in the process.
She released her sixth studio album Brat in June, which stands as the most critically acclaimed album of the year and landed at Number 1 on the UK Official Album Chart in October. Brat has well and truly made its mark on the cultural zeitgeist this year; the audacious campaign has seen Charli cause roadblocks around the world with her pop-up ‘PARTY GIRL’ DJ sets, break the internet with viral videos and surprise collaborations with the likes of Billie Eilish, Lorde, Addison Rae, Robyn, Yung Lean, Julia Fox, Chloë Sevigny, and Rachel Sennott and introduce a new tone of green to the social lexicon.
This week saw a sold-out headline show at London’s O2 arena and now, Charli xcx will take the next step up with her biggest UK show to date at the inaugural LIDO Festival in 2025 – her first UK festival as headliner.
New Jersey rapper 070 Shake may not have collaborated with Charli xcx (yet) but she did appear on RAYE’s absolutely huge hit single ‘Escapism.’ and she has just released her latest album, Petrichor. According to CLASH magazine, 070 Shake “illuminates a path that not many can tread with such confidence, an elevating spirit that pushes the parameters of her craft”.
A. G. Cook’s work can be found on a number of Brat tracks – hardly surprising given he is one of the most sought-after producers around, having worked with superstars including Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. Charli xcx provided vocals on his own 2024 album, Britpop, along with the likes of Addison Rae and Caroline Polachek.
Idiosyncratic Stockholm rapper Bladee joined the Charli xcx world in 2024 with the collaboration ‘Rewind’ but 2024 also saw the release of two surprise albums, Psykos and Cold Visions. Of the latter, Pitchfork wrote: “Its blurry, blot-out-the-world vibe glitches between reality and nightmare.” A true original.
Acclaimed Welsh electronic musician and producer Kelly Lee Owens released her fourth album, Dreamstate, in October, taking her ambient techno beats to the next level. NME described it as “a masterful, emotionally-charged collection of heavenly club music”, while the Guardian said it was “dancefloor transcendence by a true pop shapeshifter”.
The Dare produced Brat bonus track ‘Guess’, along with the remix featuring Billie Eilish, and September saw the release of the boldly titled album What’s Wrong With New York? It’s all sleazy face-pummelling electro-disco beats, or as DIY magazine put it: “Coming at the end of Brat summer, The Dare’s debut intercepts the baton perfectly.”
The Japanese House is another maverick Charli xcx collaborator, on ‘Apple’ on Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat…. Since 2023’s acclaimed In The End It Always Does (“Pop disruptor finds sunshine in the darkness” – NME) The Japanese House has also collaborated with Fred Again on ‘backseat’ and released the remarkably upbeat ‘:)’. A new album is in the works.
More headliners, full line ups and programmes are to be announced. Follow LIDO on Instagram and X, and join their newsletter here for updates.
Multi-platinum-selling recording artist, songwriter, producer, and philanthropist Zayn kicks off his highly-anticipated Stairway To The Sky debut solo UK Headline Tour, with a fan-focused performance at O2 Academy Leeds.
A welcomed return to the live stage, Zayn performed songs from his fourth studio album, Room Under The Stairs, such as ‘Alienated’, ‘What I Am’ and ‘Concrete Kisses’ as well as previous hits, ‘Sweat’, ‘Scripted’ and ‘Pillow Talk’ for the first time. He rounded off his live show with a heartfelt tribute to Liam Payne.
Zayn’s Stairway To The Sky UK Headline Tour will see him play iconic venues in Manchester, London, Wolverhampton, Newcastle and will culminate in Edinburgh on 8th and 9th December.
The tour follows Zayn’s monumental One Night Only performance at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in May, to celebrate the release of his fourth studio album, Room Under The Stairs.
Photos from Leeds’s O2 Academy on Saturday captured Malik paying tribute during his performance. The singer, who postponed his Stairway To The Sky tour following Payne’s funeral on Wednesday, displayed a heartfelt message on a large blue screen behind him. The screen read: “Liam Payne 1993-2024. Love you bro.” accompanied by a heart.
Coldplay have today premiered the music video for The Karate Kid, a new song taken from the expanded Full Moon Edition of the band’s No. 1 album Moon Music.
The video stars legendary actor Ralph Macchio (The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai) as a down-on-his-luck busker who gets his shot at a Coldplay stadium show. Directed by Chris Candy, the video was filmed in Melbourne during the band’s record-breaking Australia / New Zealand tour leg which wrapped in Auckland on Saturday.
The band got in touch with Ralph after he called The Karate Kid “a beautiful track” on social media after its October release.
Said Ralph Macchio: “When Chris Martin pops up on your FaceTime asking you to help create a video to accompany what I found to be a beautifully emotional and poignant song – one inspired by a film I made over 40 years ago – there was only one answer. Having the opportunity to join Coldplay in Australia at one of their legendary live shows to collaborate on this music video was nothing short of a career highlight. The synergy with Chris, the band and our director Chris Candy was as pure as any I’ve experienced. I’m excited to share this with the world.”
A limited edition red 7-inch featuring The Karate Kid alongside Coldplay’s current single, All My Love, is available to order here on recycled vinyl.
Last month, Moon Music topped album charts around the world, including the US, where it became Coldplay’s fifth US No. 1 album (more than any other UK solo act or group this century) and in the UK, where it outsold the rest of the Top 40 combined.
Moon Music is the world’s first album released as a 140g EcoRecord rPET LP, with each copy made from 9 recycled PET-plastic bottles recovered from post-consumer waste. Additionally, the band collaborated with The Ocean Cleanup to create the Notebook Edition LP, for which the rPET comprises 70% river plastic, intercepted by The Ocean Cleanup from the Rio Las Vacas, Guatemala. The standard CD editions of Moon Music were also the world’s first to be released on EcoCD, created from 90% recycled polycarbonate, sourced from post-consumer waste streams.
Since kicking off in March 2022, the band’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour has sold over 12 million tickets across Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, making it the all-time highest attended tour by a group.
The band recently issued an update on the tour’s sustainability initiatives, revealing that, on a show-by-show comparison, the current tour has so far produced 59% less CO2e emissions than their previous stadium tour in 2016/17, exceeding their original target of a 50% reduction. More than 9 million trees have already been planted around the world (with a further million to be planted before the end of the year). Full info can be found at sustainability.coldplay.com.
Today sees iconic British duo Rizzle Kicks – made up of Jordan Stephens and Harley Sulé – announce a massive headline show at Castlefield Bowl on Friday 11th July 2025.
The announcement follows their incredible sold-out KOKO headline show earlier this month, the duo’s first in nearly a decade. Mixing classic anthems like ‘When I Was A Youngster’ with new offerings ‘Javelin’ and ‘New Sport’, the crowd went wild at the high energy show, which Daily Star hailed as “pandemonium”.
Fans can pre-order the new album before 5pm on Wednesday 20 Nov for a chance to access the show pre-sale 24 hours before tickets go on general sale at 10am on Friday 22 Nov.Those who pre-order will be sent an email directly from the label with a link and password to the pre-sale.
This announcement also follows the announcement of their new studio album ‘Competition is for Losers’, due February 14th via BMG. Their forthcoming project sees them return to the pop music space sober, both in love and equipped with life lessons, self-awareness and self development they’ve built on separately – all the while retaining their sense of humour that always set them apart from other artists.
“We allude to the fact that we acted off the cultural encouragement and the reality of the time”, says Jordan, “I think now we’d like to believe that we’ve distanced ourselves from those just through experience”.
Themes on this album include sobriety: “Not in a prescriptive way. But more like we did a lot of crazy stuff, but now we don’t”, and paternity: “not just with Harley becoming a father and all the growth that comes with that role, but also in a larger sense as we get older we feel a responsibility to share our wins and our failures”.
A sense of values comes through on the album, with less of a black and white perspective that people often hold when they are younger, before we have had our worlds shattered, and had to put them back together. Most importantly, the music is undeniably feel-good, clearly coming from a more sustainable, happy and healthy place.
Rizzle Kicks, returned in style earlier this year with comeback single ‘Javelin’ which saw the pair reunite for their first new music in over nine years. A natural evolution of the duo’s original sound that won over so many initially; a mature, jazzy, R&B/pop amalgam with Jordan’s trademark charismatic lyricism paired with Harley’s smooth vocals. Rizzle Kicks then delivered a continuation of their mature and evolved sound on new track ‘Gumdrops’. Offering a nuanced discussion about masculinity and lad culture, the track’s smooth bassline weaves between Jordan and Harley’s vocals as they capture the bittersweet essence of adolescence.
New single ‘New Sport’ has the irresistible beat and undeniable swagger of two musicians just now reaching their artist peak, Jordan Stephen’s penmanship and Harley Sule’s honeyed vocals and mixing from Tucan (Superorganism, Jungle) combine for a track brimming with funk & soul. The video for New Sport perfectly captures Rizzle Kicks new sound, more musically refined than people may expect. The video is showcasing another creative duo, this time it’s Andy Warhol and Basquiat, the idea that the art represents their new work and new sport. Art & culture is a key part of the new Rizzle Kicks world, mirroring themes from the album of evolution, growth and maturity.
